Touch Football Play Rules?
April 1, 2014 8:04 AM

I play a bit of football in the park with my friends, and it's not regulation NFL American Football or anything, but I'm curious if it's cool when going for a punt to start a game, a friend of mine likes to pull the ball at the last possible second. She says it's a big joke and my other friends laugh a bit too so maybe I'm just being too sensitive. Are there rules I can point her to showing this isn't allowed?

I don't know from rules, but just tackle her and kiss her sometime (or stop by her advice booth and kiss her there). She won't know what hit her.

Ask her to have a signed document testifying that she will no longer pull the ball away.

And make sure it's notarized. IANYL.

An adult would probably be able to guide you toward a set of rules...if you can understand what they're saying.

It sounds like your friend is taking advantage of your trust, and your other friends are going along with it. You need someone who can help you with strategies to assert yourself. Check your memail; I know of a psychiatrist in the area who only charges 5c per session.

If all else fails, I suggest germ warfare. Get a dog to lick her.

I'm sure she's as bored with the joke as you are. Just give it another go.

Give the game a rest for awhile and before you know it, your friends will be asking you to come back. Meanwhile, find something else to do outdoors. Go fly a kite!

You need to talk about this with your therapist.

Good grief! that's not a punt that's a field goal attempt or extra point try. no one, not even an attention deprived bully girl from down the street holds the ball for you on a punt. go see that therapist.

Sounds to me like she's basically just a jerk -- maybe a good sock in the jaw and a firm "KNOCK IT OFF" will finally get the message through her block-head to quit f**king with you.

RoundHeadedKid, I don't think showing her a rule book is going to make any difference. I know that having a ball pulled away from you can lead to feeling of insecurity. I have a blanket solution for that sort of problem which I'll be happy to share with you later. But this might give you some comfort in the meantime:

"Romans 12:19-20 - Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord."

Definitely not cool. You slip, you trip, you fall, and you could wind up really injuring that great pumpkin of yours!
