need a change of scenery

I’ve had a pretty strained relationship with my Dad, recently things got out of control and we had a violent altercation. Don’t want to get into the details, my actual problem right now is that I’ve lost the use of my right hand. No medical insurance, can’t get gov’t assistance (long story), what are my options?

My location is near Tatooine if that helps.

Rely on your friends, trust in the Force weird old religion Ben Kenobi told you about.

Check out the pubs near any space ports for cargo ships staffing bio-limb construction-capable droids. Stay away from extremely short people in hoods—those are not the droids you are looking for.

You have any siblings you can contact?

There's a free clinic located just outside Toshi Station. It's right next-door to the Power Converters 'R' Us.

Bad news about the girl, dude -- so yeah, start practicing with your left.

The answers you seek are in the Dagobar system.

Sorry, you're SOL. I think the galaxy-wide health care bill will be tied up in the Imperial Senate for quite some time.

BTW, thanks for sparing us the gory details and backstory. I have a feeling the prequels to your story would be insufferable.

Near Tatooine? I would say your best bet would be to pursue a career operating and repairing moisture vaporators.

As you know, water is our most precious resource around here, and these days too many young people are getting caught up in silly religious cults and other flights of fancy (power converters, etc.) instead doing the work that needs to be done. And I don't think a missing hand will give you much trouble, droids do most of the work anyway.

Or there's always the Galactic Coast Guard.

Get yourself a good blaster. Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.

They are making some pretty amazing advances in robotic hand technology, and your insurer may cover in full if your med droid is in network.

Try having some empathy for your father. Consider the possibility that everything relating to his own childhood was a badly-conceived, nonsensical mess.

Oh, dude, until you said "Tattooine" I totally thought you were someone else I know. Ever been to King's Landing? I know a dude over there who totally has daddy issues AND just lost his right hand too! He's even got a hot twin sister, so I have a feeling you'll relate. If you just need someone to talk to who understands, I think you guys would totally hit it off. MeMail me and I'll give you his contact info.

Just keep hangin' on.

Totally disagree. I think it's time to let go. Your real family will catch you.

If you're on Tatooine, it might be worth checking with jawas for prosthetics. That's the exact kind of stuff they trade in, and I'm sure you can get something, ummm, second-hand *cough* for much cheaper than from a medical centre. They're pretty good with trades, too, so if you have any odd and ends you don't use any more, you might be able to get the price down to near-nothing. I'd deal with them before going to the black market; while the jawas aren't exactly honest, you don't want to be in any sort of debt to the Hutts.
